What has TMELA been working on this year?
Major current contracts include:

• Professional Development – This year’s top three PD interests have been Team Teaching in Flexible Learning Spaces; Engaging Maths; and Gifted and Talented Maths

• Goulburn Ovens Institute of TAFE – Coordinating and delivering the Vocational Graduate Certificate in Adult Language Literacy and Numeracy Practice (VGCALLNP) to staff.  Teaching and Learning, and Numeracy have been the focus for TMELA

• SEED Project Officer – (Schools Environmental Education Directory) – North East Victoria – TMELA has been maintaining the SEED website; organizing and facilitating student environment days; and liaising with local councils and Natural Resource Management groups

• NevRwaste – Project Officer – Home Composting Project - Working with local council and delivering to community groups

• Rutherglen Primary School – Delivering an integrated mathematics / IT program to gifted & talented grade 5 and 6 students.

PD - TEAM TEACHING IN FLEXIBLE LEARNING SPACES

With the completion of the Building Education Revolution (BER), Victoria has found itself with some magnificent education facilities encouraging teachers to utilize the benefits of a team teaching situation.

Unfortunately, many teachers have not worked in this situation before, and have become very comfortable working for the most part, in isolation, so the idea of team teaching can be very daunting.

This workshop aims to give some support to teachers and/or principals in this situation and will discuss:

• The benefits of team teaching

• Making the most of the learning environment options created by the BER

• Staffing – the different possibilities – how to make it work

• Student grouping possibilities

• Team teaching – making it work

• Planning and implementation

This workshop is primarily about MAKING TEAM TEACHING WORK
