SEED Project

During 2007 and 2008, TMELA worked with Environmental Education Staff from seven different state and local government organizations to develop the Schools Environmental Education Directory (SEED).

The organizations involved included the North East Catchment Management Authority, North East Water, North East Greenhouse Alliance, Water Watch, Department of Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts and hosted by NevRwaste.  It also included partnerships with the Rural City of Wangaratta and the Indigo Shire Council, as well as with State Schools in the North East Region and the Sandhurst Catholic Education region.

The SEED project was about writing on-line, environmental education resource materials for access by schools.  TMELA’s role was to coach each of the specialists to ensure that the activities they were delivering reflected effective teaching and learning practices for the age groups they were directed to, and to ensure the educational outcomes matched departmental expectations.

Rural City of Wangaratta

During 2009 TMELA was contracted by the Rural City of Wangaratta to conduct a feasibility study into the need for a community complex for the Upper King Valley region.  This involved making connections with the local individuals and organisations within the region and interviewing and surveying them for their opinions about the need for such a centre, where it should be positioned and what would be needed within it.  TMELA was required to work with, and report to a steering committee made up of representatives from local organisations and council employees, and to make recommendations based on an analysis of these findings.  After consultative discussions with community representatives, TMELA then prepared a strategic plan and a business / action plan for the Upper King Valley Community Complex, on behalf of the community.
