It’s
great to see people excited about what they are doing. Most likely
your enthusiasm has been sparked by knowing your ideas will work
well with your students. You may wish to share your ideas or to
publish your units. These days though we are all so accountable for
everything we do.
TMELA can assist by
analysing your unit/s of work for accountability purposes. TMELA
will then sit with staff and discuss the unit making suggestions for
improvement.
The following
questions help guide the assessment of the unit:
-
Does it
adequately cover all the intended VELS outcomes?
-
Does it
cover the intended school/class outcomes?
-
Does it
cater for multiple abilities?
-
Does it
cater for different learning styles?
-
How are
the outcomes going to be assessed and reported upon?
-
How does
it fit into the rest of your yearly plan?
-
Is there
some ‘real’ application?
-
Is it
workable?
-
Is there
provision for some links outside the classroom?
-
Can it be
integrated with other areas?
Often hiring
expertise from outside the immediate school means that units can be
assessed without any prejudices or history affecting the analysis.
It is judged on its worth. It ensures that the expectations of all
people whom teachers are accountable to are considered – students,
parents, the school, the department, other funding bodies etc. TMELA
can devote time to do this thoroughly.
All
analysis is done in a very positive way and is done in conjunction
with staff involved in the unit.
-
It can
help turn a good unit into an excellent one.
-
TMELA can
also help with the presentation (and typing) of the unit as well if
required
