During 2007 and 2008, TMELA worked
with Environmental Education Staff from seven different state and
local government organizations to develop the Schools Environmental
Education Directory (SEED).
The organizations involved included
the North East Catchment Management Authority, North East Water,
North East Greenhouse Alliance, Water Watch, Department of
Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts and hosted by NevRwaste.
It also included partnerships with the Rural City of Wangaratta and
the Indigo Shire Council, as well as with State Schools in the North
East Region and the Sandhurst Catholic Education region.
The SEED project was about writing
on-line, environmental education resource materials for access by
schools. TMELA’s role was to coach each of the specialists to
ensure that the activities they were delivering reflected effective
teaching and learning practices for the age groups they were
directed to, and to ensure the educational outcomes matched
departmental expectations.
