Differentiated Maths
“We met a couple of
weeks ago at Christ Church Grammar in Melbourne, where you did the
differentiated maths session with staff.
I found your presentation inspirational, and wished very much that you
had been my maths teacher!
I highly recommend your services to other schools.”

"Linda Anania took on the Feasibility Study for the Whitfield Project on
short notice. This being the case, and in a community that has been
disappointed over a number of issues with Council for a period of time,
was a humungous challenge in itself. Linda arrived at the end with a
very professional presentation - feasibility study and business plan,
that the whole community supported and more importantly - owned. This
is entirely due to Linda’s professionalism and community approach. I
would recommend Linda without hesitation for any consultative project
that she chose to undertake."

SEED Project
Over the past 2 years Linda Anania has provided comprehensive value
and knowledge to the development of curriculum units for the School
Environment Education Directory (SEED) Project in a very professional
manner.
The committee that oversees the
implementation of SEED comprises of environmental education staff from 7
different state and local government organisations. Linda’s consulting
skills has taken each of these staff on a learning journey where they
are now able to deliver their specialized environmental knowledge in a
format that connects to teachers and curriculum.
Linda’s knowledge of:
-
Victorian Essential
Learning Standards (VELS),
-
hands- on experience of
curriculum structure and curriculum development
-
cutting edge learning
styles and techniques
-
teacher and student
behaviours and learning styles and
-
her passion
is changing the future of curriculum
development and is contributing to each child’s school education
becoming a lifelong experience

Thinking Curriculum
‘As an Environmental Educator that works with schools,
I was seeking professional development to help me to gain an
understanding of how to build current teaching methods such as
thinking strategies into our units of work. The training I received
through Linda Anania at TMELA, was exactly what I needed. From the
half day training I was able to learn about simple strategies that
can be built into our lessons to ensure that the structure of our
activities allows for all students to learn from our messages.
Currently I am undertaking a project to develop units of work around
environmental education for schools; I also spent another half day
session with Linda one-on-one reviewing and getting advice on my
unit plans, which proved invaluable. I would highly recommend
Linda’s sessions as a great opportunity for people outside of the
school environment to improve their teaching skills.’ (Brooke Hermans, Regional Education Officer, North East Victorian

Strategies for Enhancing Numeracy in
the Middle Years
Linda was fantastic! The day we spent was full of
variety of really practical and helpful strategies to increase
engagement in learning. She showed us really good strategies to
generate interest and fun in the classroom. We were impressed by her
flexible approach and her ability to transfer ideas across a range
of curriculum areas. She was a great help in generating ideas and
was open to adapt her program to suggestions we put forward. The
best thing about the day was we could start introducing her
ideas the very next lesson! 10/10 - thanks Linda/

Cluster Facilitation /
E-Learning
‘Over the past few years I have had the pleasure to work with Linda
on a number of different levels within our Murray Valley cluster
ranging from assisting students in my class with their projects for
E-English and E-Maths programs to attending Professional Development
sessions facilitated by Linda.
In her role as Cluster Organising Group facilitator for our
Innovations and Excellence cluster, Linda has assisted our group to
maintain focus and interact on a professionally stimulating and
harmonious level. She has been able to draw our cluster together and
assist with the development of many innovative projects.
Through her E- Maths and E-English programs Linda has provided a
challenging curriculum focus for gifted and talented middle years
students. All those involved in these projects have thoroughly
enjoyed the experience and selection for inclusion is highly valued
by the students. An important aspect of these programs has also been
the opportunity offered to parents to attend a celebration day at
the conclusion of the E-English and the introductory session at the
start of the E- Maths. I have also worked with Linda on our Cluster
‘Success for Boys’ Working Party and once again Linda has assisted
and supported the group to work effectively together for the benefit
of our cluster as well as our individual schools. Through Linda’s
efforts this year we conducted a very successful ‘ICT for Boys’
session that was enthusiastically received by all participants. It
has been a professional rewarding experience to work with and be
supported by Linda over the last couple of years.

E-Maths
Last year after my introductory PD, I
introduced “E-Maths” as a trial project to extend an enthusiastic
group of grade 5 and 6 students. They were required to combine their
communication and technological skills to tackle a variety of
challenging maths activities. I was impressed by the student's
positive response and also how effectively the E-Maths tasks engaged
the inquiring minds of this talented group.

E-English
At our College, our Year 8s have been
involved in the trial of the E-English as part of the Murray Valley
Cluster initiative. The students have been selected from their
English teachers and have formed into groups, where one has been
appointed the leader. The leader is in charge of the communication
with the Cluster schools.
I have found
that the students have enjoyed the tasks, as they are able to work
in groups, that they have the ‘say’ in what they write about, and
they receive feedback or helpful hints to improve their written
piece. The students have become more confident in using the computer
using Microsoft Word, the Internet and Cluster’s website. The
students have improved in communication as a whole, and are very
willing to achieve success in their writing. Their own skills have
improved, not only in writing, but also proof reading and editing,
as they read through other schools’ pieces of work. The tasks
themselves are challenging, yet fun and leave enough room for
creativity.
As with any
school there are always time constraints. I found it tough to get
all the students together to discuss the tasks, although I did
receive great assistance from my colleagues in the English
department. The students usually come out for one lesson a week,
where we sit down, talk about what the task is about, where to start
and commence writing. Also, finding the time to use the computers in
the rooms, and not distracting their own class time too much.
I am strongly
hoping that this program continues in future years, as it is
beneficial to the students in all Cluster schools but also to the
students who deserve the positive recognition that sometimes goes
unnoticed.
